About Me
What is Merak?
From my culture, this word means the feeling of deep joy and bliss derived from simple, everyday pleasures, often resulting in a sense of oneness with the universe and contentment. It encapsulates the pursuit of small, personal joys, such as enjoying a cup of tea after a long day, that accumulate into overall happiness and fulfillment. This is what I hope to cultivate in this space for you; not only to help you find solutions for your issues but to help you find joy & peace again.
I believe therapy is most powerful when it feels safe, respectful, and truly collaborative. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to walk alongside you as you explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Together, we can make sense of challenges, uncover strengths, and find new ways forward.
As a Bosnian Australian woman and former refugee living with ADHD in Australia, I understand what it’s like to navigate life’s challenges while also carrying unique cultural, neurodivergent, and migrant experiences. My background gives me a deep appreciation for diversity and the many different ways people find resilience and meaning in their lives.
With over 10 years’ experience in Domestic/Family Violence as a Senior Specialist, working in Child Protection, providing supervision & working with families to support parenting, I bring a blend of professional knowledge and lived understanding. I work with clients experiencing stress, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, and life transitions. I specialize in working with victims of abuse & my approach is compassionate, down-to-earth, and person centered. Whether you’re seeking healing, clarity, or personal growth, counselling offers a space where you can feel heard, supported, and empowered to create positive change.
